Dulwich Road. Doesn’t sound much, does it? And isn’t in Dulwich. Just on the way there from central London. But it’s my home, or near it. In 35 years of living locally, I must have walked, cycled, dragged childen, bussed or driven along Dulwich Road a thousand times. Maybe several thousand. It’s so familiar that it barely registers, and yet there’s so much here to notice and record. Can’t draw, don’t want to write poetry … but I do love to knit. So here’s the plan. Present the sights and feel of Dulwich Road through the medium of yarn in 49 x 7-inch specially designed knitted squares that will build into a blanket. The blog starts before the first stitch was cast on, and I hope it will take me to 49 finished squares. Design notes are ideas for layout, inspiration, choice of landmarks and the stitches that might represent them. I act on those ideas in the test swatches and then notes on finished squares + patterns complete the process.

This is the stumbling journey of an experienced knitter who is new to designing her own stuff. I could do with your hand to hold along the road. Pat 😊 (patgsmith on Ravelry)
