A couple of steps forward from the first test, one step back.
Resources
Changes in bold
- Rowan Felted Tweed, shades 196 (Barn Red), Shadow (224), Rose Quartz (206) & Peach (212)
- Rowan Cotton Glacé, shade Oyster (73)
- 2.75mm knitting needles

What I did
- Cast on 53 stitches using 2.75mm needles
- Stocking-stitch and slip-stitch brick pattern, with alternating 3-stitch and 7-stitch bricks, all 4 rows in height
- Each row of bricks to strand just two shades
- Freestyle choice on shade pairings and the colour of each brick
The Oyster Cotton Glacé for the mortar is just right, and the combination of 4-ply and a smaller needle gauge has reduced the impact of the mortar in relation to the bricks. The brick pattern is now correct (see Test 1 for image) and the higher number of bricks also takes the attention away from the mortar. However, the new brick colour is a backward step.
What needs to change
There are too many Peach bricks here; the dark combination in Test 1 was closer to the Lido wall and it was the contrast with the whiter mortar that was too stark.
For Test 3
Return to darker bricks from Test 1, but include a few of the new Peach shade
